Determining Your Paddle Skill Level
Your safety depends on matching your skill level to the trip. It is important to start out with easy trips and work your way up slowly as you gain both experience and skill. If in doubt, be sure to visit with the trip coordinator before committing. If you arrive at the river and it looks like more than you want to tackle, don't be bashful about deferring to another trip.
The following two KCKA articles will help you self-classify your own paddle skill level and provide you with a list of things you can learn to advance your own capabilities. These articles will help you communicate your skill level and specific skills with a trip coordinator.
